Tilehurst Veterinary Centre, School Road, Tilehurst, Reading RG31 5AR
Guinea-competent Vets based in Berkshire who regularly treat guineas from all over the South of England.
At this guinea-friendly practice (affectionately know as "Pig City" because of the number of guineas they treat), they are used to seeing guineas that have travelled long distances for treatment. The nurses are very good at stepping and syringe feeding guineas if they don't start eating imediately after operations. They also stock a small range of Gorgeous Guineas products.
(Clinical Manager) is very caring and enthusiastic about guinea pigs. Jenny can do X-rays, dental work and lance abscesses without anaesthetic. Jenny is also very good at diagnosing / treating guineas and regularly operates successfully on guineas. Common operations include castrations, bladder stones, removal of lumps etc, and her stitching is very neat. Jenny regularly treated guineas from Reading Guinea Pig Rescue as well as my own Gorgeous Guineas.
joined the practice in 2008 and is an experienced surgeon. Sally regularly operates on guinea pigs and her stitching is very neat. She is also happy to castrate older boars as long as they are fit and healthy. One of my own boars (Mr Happy) was 5.5 years old at the time of his "little operation" - he sailed through the op and enjoyed the last year of his life with Little Miss Nosey:) Sally can also do X-rays without anaesthetic.
joined the practice in 2007 fresh out of Vet School. She is good at diagnoising guinea problems and understands the importance of a good dose of antibiotics and pain relief when required. Hannah is a safe pair of hands for castrations, her stitching is very neat and can also do X-rays and dental work without anaesthetic. She is currently on Maternity Leave and we look forward to seeing her back at the practice later in 2014.
